The Council Ski Trip has been POSTPONED

The Council Ski Trip has been POSTPONED from Saturday, January 20 to Saturday, February 10, due to unseasonable weather conditions. There is still time to sign up! Packages are $90 with bus transportation or $75 without, and include ski or snowboard rental, an introductory lesson, lift ticket and a lunch voucher. Buses will leave from the GSCNC Office, and from the Branch Avenue Metro station. American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra performance and Instrument Petting Zoo

Come see the Virtuosi Program of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra with Conductor Luis Haza! For Girls Grades 5 through 8

Women Behind Design Squad Workshop

Saturday, February 17, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM or 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
National Building Museum, Washington, DC

Girls in grades 5 - 8 are invited to an exclusive workshop to talk to women who make and star in PBS's new series Design Squad. This special event is part of the National Building Museum's Engineering Family Day. At this one hour workshop you'll meet Marisa Wolsky, the Executive Producer, who will share the ins and outs of creating a television show; Deanne Bell, a mechanical engineer and show host, who will tell you all about the cool careers available to female engineers; and Krishana, a cast member, who will share her experiences as a contestant on the show. Design Squad, the new television show from PBS, follows eight high school students as they compete to design and build fantastic, whimsical, fully operational engineering projects. Projects include everything from a machine that automatically makes pancakes to a motorized red wagon that can reach speeds up to 20 mph. Leaders who attend will receive a copy of the Design Squad Educator's Guide filled with 10 hands-on engineering activities to do with their girls after the event.

Girl Scout Day with George Mason Women's Basketball

George Mason Patriot Center, Fairfax, VA

Join hundreds of Girl Scouts and the GMU Women's Basketball team for this exciting game! Prior to the game, there is a clinic with the Masonettes Dance Team from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the PE Building. Girls who participate in the clinic will perform at halftime of the basketball game. Clinic dress is black shorts and a white shirt. Tickets are only $1 each. To order tickets, contact the George Mason Athletic Ticket Office at 703-993-3270.

National Girls and Women in Sports Day

Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007. Tip-off at 2 p.m.


American University, Bender Arena, Washington, D.C.

American University Athletics will honor female scouts of all ages at the AU women’s basketball game versus Lehigh University. After the game there will be a special program for scouts featuring sport skill and equipment demonstrations, Q&A session, messages from student-athletes, autographs, and souvenirs. Tickets ordered in advance and $2 for adults.

Teen Digging Through the Past Overnight

This program is for girls in grades 7-12 only!
Begin your dig and your IP with an evening pre-cave program and flashlight tour of the cavern. Spend the night slumber-party style indoors and continue in the morning with workshops about rocks & minerals, fossils & geologic time, surface geology & mapping, and groundwater.

Cadette Career Award/Your Own Business IP Day

Saturday, February 3, 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM
First Baptist Church, Woodbridge, VA

Earn the entire Cadette Career Award, including the "Your Own Business" IP, on Saturday, Feburary 3, from 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM (check-in at 9:45 AM). The cost is $10 and will be held at the First Baptist Church of Woodbridge at 13600 Minnieville Road. Reservation deadline is Friday, Jan 27th. Adults
Letterboxing is now at Council Camps!
